Christians Celebrate Charles Darwin and Evolution
On this the 200th anniversary of Charles Darwin's birthday, and despite loud, attention grabbing protests from some who prefer blind belief to an enlightening faith, we are remineded of the tremendous contributions of Darwin to our understanding. Those scientific findings that have followed from Darwin's groundbreaking research have enhanced rather than diminsihed genuine faith. Hence it is no suprise that Christians around the world are joining with people of all faiths, as well as those with none, in remembering Darwin and his prodigious contributions to the advancement of human knowledge!

I doubt it's blind faith, rather obedience to the words of Jesus.

What words of Jesus could possibly be interpreted as suggesting that Christians should ignore knowledge about God's creation or discoveries that tend to support the health and welbeing of humanity?

In remembering Darwin, the only 'prodigious contribution to the advancement of human knowledge' of which I am aware are his theory of evolution and a few unusual specimens that he saw in the Galapagos Islands. Unfortunately, the advancement of human knowledge tends towards getting rid of God rather than 'enlightening faith'. Whilst all advancements in human knowledge can help enhance genuine faith, people have to have a firm foundation in their faith to be able to do this, otherwise it causes confusion. I have noticed over the past few years how much evolution is being pushed at all levels and in every form of media, however tenuous or necessary the link may be. Almost everything we see and hear nowadays from the world promotes evolution or denies God and it is destroying our society. Romans 1:19-23 seems to be an appropriate scripture. So, while I, personally, can glory in God's creation and all that He has done in my life and others, I will not be celebrating Darwin or his work.
