Huckabee, Cruz, even Bush saying that the refugees from terror in Syria should not be allowed in the US! Whatever happened to “give me your tired, your poor, your restless, wretched yearning to be free?” Has the Statue of Liberty been replaced by a wall? A moat? We can’t surrender our values to the terrorists, or we are lost.

If there were 10 apples in a room and 9 were beautiful and wonderful but one was deadly poison and you had no way of telling which was which, would you take one?
I would run a test to see which apple was tainted, ie vet any possible immigrants prior to admitting. I would not swear off on apples or other fruits and veggies necessary to good health.
One criteria I would look for is do they want to become Americans or do they just want to be in America. Our first immigrants wanted to become Americans, to aspire to be like us. I am not so sure that is the goal of many of today’s immigrants who do not have the same understanding of what makes our government and culture unique nor do they want to. We offer many benefits here and the goal should be to assimilate and become in tune with the opportunities and values we share. This is not always the case.

Charles Henderson I didn’t tell you to swear off apples. So you are going to run tests on the 10 apples to see which one will kill you? You think that is a better option than avoiding the apples? Do me a favor; if you like apples that much, move to the orchard. Stop trying to force my family to eat them. We don’t want to take the risk.
You are not comprehending the immediacy of the threat. What would it take? A nuclear bomb with 3 million dead Americans? Then would you think a moratorium on immigration might be good?
