The season of Ramadan is the ninth month of the Muslim calendar and lasts for 29 or 30 days, depending on the year. It is marked by fasting; Muslims refrain from eating or drinking during the day, focusing upon prayer and submission to God in all things. This year Ramadan begins May 5th and ends with the festival of Eid al-Fitr. Literally the “Festival of the Breaking of the Fast.” For the full Islamic calendar.
