God and the Tsunami

Given the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan, where is God? Some, including for example, Pat Robertson, have already suggested that this is yet another example of God acting to punish people who deserve to suffer. This is clearly not only an outrageous attack upon victims who have already suffered greatly. It is also an affront to God! What a horrendous notion! That a just and loving God would wipe out tens of thousands of human beings because some of them might have committed sins of rather ordinary human proportions? This makes God into a capricious puppet master who knows even less than the rest of us about simeple matters such as fairness and common sense. Shame! To read more about God and the tsunami.
