Some believe that Friday, December 21, 2012 will mark the end of the world. These predictions are based on the fact that the ancient Mayans, whose civilization spanned across southern Mexico, Guatemala and Belize from 1000 B.C. to 1519 A.D., carved into their calendar the day the world would end—Dec. 21, 2012. In truth it turns out that this is merely the time when the Mayan calendar ends! Hey what! My own calendar comes to an end on Dec 31, 2012, but that is not any indication that the world will end on that date. It simply means that I need a new calendar! Of course going out to buy a new calendar is a lot less exciting than anticipating the END OF THE WORLD. Others base their predictions of the end of the world upon “Biblical Prophecy.” One thing all of these predictions have in common: there is no truth in them! Check out how some Christian prophecy “experts” have tried to one up the Mayans.
