In the context of quarrelsome comments from conservative Catholics and Protestants alike who took issue with some of Senator Kennedy’s views, those involved in today’s funeral mass, including Catholic clergy, family members, and friends, hosted a gracious and wonderful celebration! The affirmation of Ted Kennedy’s life and work, and the acknowledgement of how his personal faith animated his life long commitment to social justice was inspirational. This was an example of the Catholic Church at its best.
